Full Description: The International Coffee Organization enabling governments and their representatives to freely exchange points of view, and to coordinate policies and priorities at regular meetings.

- By increasing the world coffee consumption through innovative marketing - By initiating coffee development projects aimed at improving quality and marketing

- By encouraging an infinitely sustainable world coffee economy

- Keeping close ties with the private sector through a 16 strong “Private Sector Consultative Board” that tackles issues like food safety.

- By providing both objective and comprehensive information on the coffee market.

- By ensuring transparency in the market through use of statistics.

The International Coffee Organization was created in London in the year 1963 under the United Nations due to great economic importance that coffee bore. Six different “International Coffee Agreements” have been administered, the most recent one entering into provisional force on the first of October, the year 2001, and becoming definitive on May 17th of 2005. The International Coffee Organization is comprised of 77 members which includes 45 coffee exporting and 32 coffee importing countries, and it functions .
